Bad Schönborn, Germany – 23 October 2024: In a groundbreaking moment for Germany’s energy transition, Monday, 21 October 2024 marked the official inauguration of the nation’s largest floating photovoltaic (PV) system, located on Philippsee. The event was graced by the presence of Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann and State Secretary Dr Franziska Brantner, underscoring the significance of this achievement in the field of renewable energy.
This cutting-edge project stands as a testament to harnessing unused water bodies for the generation of clean energy, contributing to the nation’s renewable energy objectives. Not only does the system efficiently produce solar power, but it also provides an additional ecological benefit by reducing water evaporation from the lake’s surface.
